The department of Bodo in Udalguri College was introduced during its inception in 1979. Bodo (MIL) was a single subject under the department of Bodo till 1998. Elective Bodo was introduced by Gauhati University in the year 1999 as elective subject and again Major course in Bodo was introduced in the year 2007. The Department of Bodo was affiliated with Gauhati University, Gauhati till 2020. Currently, the department of Bodo as well as the College is affiliated with Bodoland University.
