Udalguri College was established on 20^th August 1979. The Department of Bodo was established since inception. Bodo M.I.L was a single subject under the Department of Bodo since 1998. Elective Bodo was introduced by Gauhati University in the year 1999 and thereafter major course in Bodo was introduced in the year 2007. The affiliating university of this college is Gauhati University, Guwahati.

Initially P.G programme in Bodo affiliated to Gauhati University was introduced in the year 2020. As the affiliation of the College was shifted to Bodoland University in the same year, P.G programme too shifted to the same university. Already two batches of the students completed successfully from the Department.

VISION:

• Impart quality education on prescribed curriculum,
• Explore the basic knowledge of the traditional musical instruments, their faith and beliefs of the Bodos,
• Giving basic idea on bamboo crafts and wooden tools of the Bodos,
• Provide more information regarding handloom and textile, folk cookery of the Bodos,
• Encourage the skilled person especially on games & sports, literary activities.
